Lake Weed Cutter Rake

I purchased this after watching a neighbor fail with another product. This rake stays sharp due to serrated edge and cuts lake weeds at their base. The bonus is that it also pulls many weeds out by the roots, thus preventing re growth. The proof is in the absence of plant growth at my bulkhead as compared to my neighbors. The rake is well built and very solid when in use. The extended handle allows for a greater reach and leverage. A great product.

Get 'er done!

Getting rid of pond weeds is a thankless job. I did it "by hand" for years... getting in my pond, plucking and scooping everything out. It took days and was not much fun, to say the least. Finally sprang for the Midwest Rake and I consider it money well spent. It's still hard work but clean up goes much quicker. Definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Best for the money

I have a review on the SP2 backpack sprayer that you might want to read, as I recommend this sprayer instead. I picked my Stanley up at Sam's for $45.00, and at 1/3 the price of the SP2 and better design features, I would highly recommend this sprayer above ALL others. You have adjustable pressure settings, you can pump it up sitting on a flat surface if you want. and it goes up to 60psi which means, unless you are spraying the tops of trees, it is more than adequate.

Left something to be desired

My issue with this sprayer is in the compression fitting where the hose connects with the sprayer wand. It failed after only a couple of hours use. I tried cutting off the flared hose to start over only to run into the same problem again. I'm not one to return things if I can't make them better. I dropped the whole plastic compression fitting idea and went with a brass hose bib and hose clamp. A much smarter way to go in my opinion. No more problems. Stanley should spend the little bit extra on a metal fitting and clamp to alleviate customer dissatisfaction.

good sprayer

I have been using this to spray fertilizer on all my plants and fruits (foliar feed) 3-4 gallons once a week for a couple of months. The pumping action is good although it loses pressure quickly so you have to keep at it, but it's not tiring. It could deliver a very strong spray at the highest pressure, more powerful than the 1 gallon handheld sprayers so it gets the job done quicker, plus need to refill every gallon now.I looked at the solo sprayers some of them do not look like rebuild is easy or even possible. This stanley made by chaplin has all parts you can order for repair and is all listed in the manual.The only mishap that caused a 4 star instead of 5 is that there was a leak by the hose one day, the hose clamp is plastic and cheap, even when tightened fully it leaked, down the back of my legs! Good thing I was only using harmless organic liquid and not pesticide.. I found a metal screw drive hose clamp in my parts bin and it has been working perfectly. I suggest anyone who buy this to replace the clamp like I do to prevent this problem.

If you are only pumping water, the cast iron "C" version is recomended. The "C" version can also be used for agricultural chemical spraying, but you may also want to switch to the Ni-Resist or XL version for longer life. Pumping wettable powders through a roller pump will reduce the life of the rollers because of the friction on the rollers. If you are using wettable powder chemicals, Rittenhouse recommends using a diaphragm pump.

indoor greenhouse

I really like this greenhouse for our tall windows in a very old house. I am growing wheatgrass and this was able to hold 8 trays of plants easily. The zipper on the right hand side broke the 1st day about halfway down and I almost sent it back but the importance of my plants took precedence. I could have called about it but decided it wasn't too important. I am ordering another one for the other window. I am very pleased with the results , hopefully the zipper holds up on the 2nd one.

Excellent little plant house

I was looking for a small yet sturdy little house to grow my greens in the house year round. This definitely fits the bill. It is perfect in size, surprisingly sturdy, and I expect it will serve me well for years to come. Very easy to put together, and I will be purchasing a second one in the future.I would not personally set this outside unless it was weighted at the bottom with heavier pots, or a brick of some sort. Nor would I put it near trees that could have falling branches etc, but, it is Perfect for in your home or a protected area outdoors. The plastic cover is fairly thick, if it's handled with care, it should hold up quite well. It included little ribbon ties in just the right places to keep it looking neat and tidy.Over all, a great product and reasonably priced for what I received. Thanks so much!

Looks Good, Lightly Constructed

Pros:1. I assembled it in 15 minutes. Foolproof & no tools are required.2. Powder coating appeared well done on the metal tubes and wire racks.3. It looks exactly like the photo and has a pleasing color.4. Each shelf easily holds six 6" plastic pots with plants or three full flats.5. Toddlers or big dogs easily can knock this over if not secured.Cons:1. Sixteen short metal tubes (four per layer) push into plastic end-pieces (two per layer). Everything just pushes together; and the unit weighs less than 12 lbs assembled. A strong wind will topple it; and it will come apart if tipped over. (Reassembly would not be difficult.) I put mine up against a brick wall.2. Without reinforcement, the unit is wobbly but usable. You can easily reinforce the unit by tying the wire shelves with wire (not included) to the vertical rods and to the three rods (not visible on photo) under each shelf.3. Cover is a zippered plastic bag that is not much heavier than an inexpensive garment bag.4. Price seems a bit high. $49, including shipping, would seem fair to me.Final Word:A bit of Ikea (known for innovative use of fasteners) engineering would make this a five-star item. I am happy to have it but expect only two or three years of service. I have it in place at the edge of my patio against a wall. Visitors say "looks nice" and "where did you get it?"

Cheap, easy to assemble, works well

I LOVE this rainbarrel. It was so easy to install and is working great. Has a brass spigot that is durable and doesn't leak. Also, don't buy into all these extra gadgets they sell for installing it and linking multiple rain barrels. For installing, just saw off the bottom part of your existing gutter, get a $2 flexible gutter elbow at the hardware store and stick the barrel underneath. Works great. For connecting two of them, I got a $10 3/4" diameter hose at the hardware store and just stuck it on both the connector knobs. Works perfect and way cheaper than the $40 connector kit they sell. Final tip: raise this barrel really high off the ground or the water pressure won't be enough to use a hose. Also, can do this on the cheap using cinder blocks or other cheap bricks.

Real nice but...

The device came as promised. It was easy to install on the pedestal that I had to buy extra, but it was worth it. I think it is stylish enough for where I want it. It quickly filled up with rain water and has saved me a lot of money in water bills. Yet, the blessing of rain is also a bit of a curse. I have it close to my home and it will overflow down the foundation into the basement. I would like to see a faucet nearer the top as well. I made the modification myself. It's not pretty but effective. Please view the picture I have attached. Get it. It's worth it. Just know that it fills up and overflows quickly.

The rain barrel does just what it should. Like the top overflow. Used lots of plumbers tape on the spigot. No leaks. Surprising how fast it fills. A larger barrel or connecting ones might be a good idea.

My back loves this spading fork

This digging fork is PERFECT ! I cannot say enough about how well built this tool is . It is coated very well for rust prevention , made of heavy forged steel and the handle is as sturdy as any quality tool I have ever used . I was amazed and very happy when I received it earlier today . If you want a quality tool that won't make you bend over it for hours on end , this longer handled , very well built digging fork is the best ! I am 100% satisfied and very grateful that a company still makes quality tools for gardening . Pricey but, in this case you definitely get what you pay for , worth every cent :)
