Sturdy and useful

My husband purchased this to dig out some buck-thorn roots and tree stumps around our yard and garden of our new house. He loves using it, but did break the tip off at the very end. It took a lot of abuse before that though and he can still use it.

I've known about the King of Spades for years, but never wanted to invest in a shovel at this level. Due to a large project I'm working on, and the breakage of yet another "Retail Home Improvement Store" shovel I finally purchased this. WOW What a difference. About the only thing I can say is watch out for underground cables. They don't stand a chance.

Bonide 420 Fogger okay for the price

I wanted just what the Bonide and others like it advertised. I have loads of plantings and loads of summertime mosquitoes, enough to discourage outdoor relaxation. The Bonide lays down a good fog and it does discourage mosquitoes but does not eliminate them. It would probably work better on a less green back yard and during a less wet summer. My only complaint is the need for constant pumping to keep the fog coming. I wish the press of the trigger would keep the fog coming until released. However, I can live through that. I am using the shorter propane container against recommendation and it seems to work fine. I am emptying the concentrate container after each use as strongly recommended. Since this is my first season, I'll have to wait a while to see if it remains reliable. All things considered, I would buy the Bonide 420 again.

cheaply made but fixable

This product did not work right out of the box. It heated up fine but no fog. I checked the things the manual said to check with no luck. The pump didn't seem to be pulling any insecticide up into the tube. Seeing it looked pretty simple, I unscrewed the brass fitting at the end of the tube that pulls the insecticide into the burner. Inside is a small ball bearing that acts as a ball valve, and a spring. I suspect the spring was either misaligned or the brass fitting was screwed in too tightly to allow the valve to function properly. I replaced the components, screwed the brass fitting back on, and the pump now functioned fine. I still have the fogger, but only because I can't find an inexpensive alternative that performs any better.

Good Home Solution

The fogger was a good option for us. With recent wet weather, the Florida mosquito population has gone along unfazed into late October. The fogging process was fast and very effective. There is one caveat... the instructions do not include this, but you'll want to wait and let the fogger heat up before you actually start fogging. Once it's heated, it works well, but if it's not hot enough, the fog will catch fire. One fogging left us with, at least for now, no mosquitoes!

Nice box

It is a good size for medium to smaller ponds. I have two of them, each on their own pump and they work just fine. I like the inclusion of the bio media but would have been nice if they had the filter pads as well. I searched for them but couldn't find the ones that were contoured for the box as the manual shows, so I ended up just buying a 24" x 24" set and cut them in half. That worked great for me.

Fun centerpiece for your flower garden

I bought one of these at Fred Meyer for $49.99. It was already assembled. I'm sure the black powder coating is durable, but it's really ugly (my daughter called it "creepy") so I painted the vane green and the blades a cheery fluorescent yellow, like a giant freakin' daisy. Painting a bright color over flat black takes a LOT of paint so consider a primer first. (I uploaded a "before & after" picture here on Amazon.)Also, expect to see rust on the inside of the bars that make up the tower. Keep in mind that you're going to be growing a vine up this thing anyway, and even with the rust it's going to live long enough to be worth fifty bucks.Having said that, I love this thing. Doesn't take much of a breeze to get the blades turning, and maybe 5 MPH to get the whole vane pointing in the direction of the wind. I put some 30-weight on the vane shaft to ensure wind direction accuracy and avoid future rust.I bought five cheap solar-powered lights that light up the blades at night. The flat-black tower is really hard to see, so the yellow blades appear to be floating eerily (perhaps we're back at "creepy" again). Use your imagination and this thing has all kinds of potential.Comes with four beefy (but not very long, maybe 8") metal stakes to hold down the legs. Because it would be ironic for your windmill to be blown over by wind. Or to form a circle of opinion that begins and ends at creepy.

Better Than Expected

Even with the existing so-so reviews, I took a chance on this product because I liked the shape and size of it. The quality was better than I expected. It was easy to assemble, the windmill turns smoothly and it is not "creepy" as a previous review stated. This Spring, I plan to plant some honeysuckle at the base and use it as a trellis. Ranked it only a four stars as do not yet know how long it will last in the weather since it is a new purchase.

Great for yard water projects

We have five of this guys running for our yard fountains, they have a life time of about two years average, a couple have been going for 4-5 years. One of the new ones failed after a week, a replacement was sent no charge, no questions, from the supplier/manuf. Great customer service!

This is the second pump I have purchased in the past year. A year ago I purchased the Beckett pump and it only worked a year. This year I purchased a second pump and it didn't work at all. Enough of the Beckett pump.

what a BEAST!

We have a small pond in our back yard for our 3 ducks. Needless to say, it gets pretty mucky with poop and feathers. Consequently, we go through pumps rather quickly as they get fouled up with feathers unless we encase them in something, and if we do that, it gets clogged up with poop muck. We end up having to clean the pump every other day.This pump is a completely different design, and the usual spinning blades and drive shaft are completely covered. It has a larger bore intake and really doesn't care at all about the muck. Really good power. This pump is NOTHING like the usual pond pumps you find at Home Depot. A relief to find a pump that does the job without clogging up.

Great for the price

I needed a hose reel for a smaller type back porch- just to water flowers. I needed a reel that was not astronomical in price nor one that took up much room. I had read about leaking from these but not mine the connection was great, washers were included. It does reach the 20' span of the porch and it reels in quickly. My old hose was left out over the winter and trying to use it was impossible with all the kinks. This is easy enough and small enough I can store it in the garage over the winter. The hose is smaller in circumference 1/2 " rather than 3/4". The connection to the house was great, however when I tried to pot a nozzle on the other end it was too small to connect properly. So far I am unable to find a spray nozzle for it. Help! If anyone knows where I can get one or rectify the problem please advise. You get what you pay for in the end. The price of both the hose and reel already put together was unbeatable. Julie

Best hose reel I've tried so far

My wife bought this for me from my Amazon wish list and it arrived today. I needed a portable hose with more than 50' range because I only have 1 faucet in the front of my home and we have planters 45' feet away from it. The trouble is the faucet is right by the front door so whatever hose reel I use needs to be easy to unhook each day. This is light and easy to use. It came fully assembled and fit my existing spigot perfectly. The hose is 1/2 inch rather than the standard 3/4 but the fittings are standard and my existing standard watering attachments all fit as do my quick connect attachments. I used it for the first time with no leaks. It is at least the 65' advertised. It un reels and reels back in with very little effort and works well. I can't say it feels overly solid but it does seem strong enough and if it was any more sturdy I'd expect it to be too heavy. Water pressure is a little low, ideal for watering planters and hanging baskets but probably not great for a sprinkler or to wash a car etc. For my purpose it is perfect and I couldn't be happier especially for $22 plus shipping. Check out my other reviews, I don't give 5 stars easily. I really hope this lasts. I really rely on reviews when making purchase decisions so I will certainly update if it doesn't sustain its initial performance.

Value: Get what you pay for.

I feel like most reviews are based on value. I bought this product here on amazon for 25 dollars total! the current price at 45 dollars after shipping is just outrageous to me. I would never have bought this hose for $45. But at a 25 dollar value this couldnt be beat. It leaks. Its a cheap plastic and its only a 1/2 inch hose. At 25 dollars id purchase it a 2nd time but really not for a penny more. It is not worth any more than that. You can buy a good hose and reel for about 50 bux and get something 2-3times better than this.Just so you know this hose is not rated for clean drinking water.

Okatsune Hedge Shear

I am a professional gardener. I have over the years used many brands and varieties of shears, and was pleased with none of them until I got my hands on a pair of Okatsune hedge shears.They come sharp, they stay sharp, and only an occasional touchup with a ceramic rod keeps them at a fine edge. Okatsune shears are what happens when japanese sword makers apply their skills to peaceful pursuits. The balance and weight makes them extremely easy to use, easy on the back and shoulders. In the springtime I frequently trim boxwoods five or six hours a day for two or three weeks in a row. The Okatsunes make it a breeze.They are always three to five times as expensive as garden variety shears, but will still be in good shape long after the others have been trashed. this is a case where you get what you pay for, and they are darn well worth it.

I love this!

I lived in Japan for 18 years and had bought a similar one when I lived there. I regretted that I did not bring it back with me and was disappointed that I could not find shears like it here in the states. Even though it is pricey it is worth every penny for the results you can achieve in your yard.
