Central foot tread delivers more digging power and is more stable than a traditional style digging spade. The large soft-feel handle has a comfortable 2-handed grip. Very sturdy shovel

I am very new to gardening, having become a new homeowner. For me, it was important to put together a small group of well made gardening tools. I bought this item based on its description. I was looking for sturdiness. This item was very useful in terms of digging a hole to plant blueberry bushes. There was a place you could put your feet to push down and loosen the earth. The metal part was sharp enough to cut through roots embedded in the soil.The spade is an excellent choice if you are not tall. At 5'2", this was a great length for me. The handle was sturdy, non-slip. After using it, I was able to wash it down with the hose, and so it cleaned up very well.

I had bought the Spear&Jackson digging fork some time ago and I am very satisfied with the quality and easy use. Now I purchased the spade, sharpened it and started digging a new bed for the raspberries. Both garden tools are heavy, well done, easy to clean, have the right size for me and help me doing a good job in my ever growing garden.After buying in local stores the usual gardening tools, mostly made in China, breaking them and being tired of filling the landfill with that stuff I decided to get something decent and for long term use. Eureka, I found it.

i can tell this is a well made product, in good shape except for sum deep scratch marks in the handle....looks like sum 1 too a chisel 2 it, thats how deep the marks are but besides that im happy with my purchase.
