My Neighbor bought this model about 15 years ago. recently mine cheap spreader bit the dust and I started borrowing his Ev-n-Spred spreader... then it tore up.So being that his lasted 15 years, I bought another from amazon. The exact same model. All i have to say is the one that just came in the mail has lots of plastic parts like the gear box, and other parts, and the metal parts are way thinner than the previous version. There is no way this thing will ever come close to lasting 15 years.The thing was like a jigsaw puzzle to put together, and took about 40 minutes for me and im good at putting things together. The quality is about 6.5 on a scale of 1-10. I feel like it will last a few years at least. I used it today and it spread fine, the operation is smooth. My only concern is the inferior quality parts that were used to build it.

The spreader came nicely boxed and it took me about 2o minutes to assemble it arrived. Assembly isn't very difficult but you do have to pay attention to the instructions.I used it again today for the second time and I am impressed with how well it works. My last two spreaders have used a cable to operate and that has proven very problematic. This time I wanted solid linkage and it really makes a difference. Yeah, it is a little bit on the "light duty" side but should work well for the home owner that uses five or six times a year. I have spent a lot more money for a spreader and had it work much worse than this one. I gave it four stars and would buy one again if I needed another spreader.

Can't wait to use this as I was very help to throw out my Scott's Deluxe spreader! It is solid and well constructed. I am tall (6'3") and was tired of stooping over to use the Scott's Spreader. This one is the right height for me. I like to more upright bucket so all the product will be used. As other reviewers mentioned, pay attention to the directions as there are some tricky steps - gears, open/close lever.
