Champ of Quick Germination

Perennial ryegrass is the champ of quick germination, usually within 5-7 days. That makes it ideal for quick growth and erosion control. Unlike its coarse, light green, short lived cousin, annual ryegrass, perennial rye forms a dark green fine-bladed turf similar to Kentucky bluegerass, and lives a long time. Sounds perfect? Well, not quite. The major downside is that it is not very heat/drought tolerant, and will struggle to survive the summer heat in most areas outside the northern 1/3 of the USA. If you use it in the so-called transition zone, you should mix it with Kentucky bluegrass or tall fescue if you want to have a good lawn after July 15. It is also susceptible to grey rot fungus, although newer cultivars are much more resistant. In the right place, for the right the purpose, this is an excellent seed.

This is the first winter that I have a beautiful green lawn...in the mountains of north Georgia!!!On the downside, going to have to break out the lawnmower...

other than a good price for the 50lbs, germination was very good.the grass is a nice dark green color,alot like bluegrass in size and texture but a nicer green.
