One of my favorite tools
By R. Wellington
I have owned this saw for a couple of years and absolutely love it for cutting brush and pruning trees. It tears through 6" hardwood branches with its perfectly-shaped curved blade, but also makes quick work of finger-thick saplings which it dispatches with a single stroke. I often use it now rather than loppers. I've even bought a couple to give to friends as gifts. I have owned a number of different types of saws over the years--mostly bow saws--but this is infinitely easier and quicker to use. The Silky can get into much tighter spaces, cuts faster and cleaner, and is much easier to carry with the beautifully designed scabbard. A pleasure to use.

Excellent!!

This saw makes short work of trimming limbs. Inch thick oak and ash is cut with about 6 strokes. It is very sharp and is a quality product in every way. The first time I used it, I was cutting firewood with a chain saw, splitting some foot thick pieces and stacking the wood. I used the Silky to cut some branches and stubs off the firewood before stacking, rather than fire up the chain saw. I think the curved blade helped cut faster.I didn't use the scabbard at first, just putting the saw back in it and leaving it where I was at the time. That lasted until I wanted to use it and had to remember where I left it. I was working on three different piles of wood, about 20 feet apart. Walking over to the next location, I thought, "So that's why they give you the scabbard." Now when I find a small piece of wood on the side of a future piece of firewood, I just reach for the scabbard on my side and take care of business.

No gas, no noise - just a great saw
By John C
I decided I wanted to buy a chain saw. No reason, but I have all of the other homeowner toys and that is one of the few things left. I changed my mind after taking the advice of two people. One told me about the cleaning and maintenance of a chain saw (especially for infrequent use) and the other told me the $250 "homeowner" unit I would buy is basically junk. (he spent $600 on his least expensive chainsaw). So I began to look at hand saws. I liked the Corona Razor Tooth 13 inch saw, and I'm sure it would have met my needs. The more I read and researched I began to believe Silky is the Rolls Royce of saws, but they seemed pricey to me. Corona also makes a 13 inch Quick Saw which seems to be a direct copy of the Silky Zubat. It has a full tine, rubberized handle, and similar teeth. It costs more than the Razor Tooth and less than the Zubat, but it does not come with any type of case.I decided on the Silky Zubat because the extra cost was actually negligible when you factor in the cost of the included scabbard. I have only used the saw a couple of times and the case (scabbard) is key. I keeps it safe when it isn't being used and is very handy to have on your belt when you are using the saw. I'm always cutting and then moving the wood and need a safe clean place for the saw. The scabbard is more important than I originally thought. The saw itself is incredible. I mainly use it for fallen limbs. It can cut through 7 inch diameter branches in a minute or less. Two or three inch branches take only a few pulls. The saw is very well made and has a high quality finish. This is a very impressive tool. I am very glad I purchased it and would highly recommend it to others.
